Naumburger Dom

Also known as:   Naumburger Cathedral, Naumburg Cathedral and St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral.

In 1000 A.D. Ekkehard I founded Nuwenburg or "New Castle" which eventually became what we know as Naumburg, Germany.    The Naumburg Cathedral was built during the first half of the 13th century.  It has heavy Romanesque and Gothic influences.  The western choir honors the noble families and benefactors of Naumburg that helped with the building of the cathedral.

Bamberger Dom

Also known as:   Bamberg Cathedral and Bamberger Dom St. Peter und St. Georg

The Bamberg Cathedral is probably the most well known cathedral in Germany, its beauty is demonstrated in a later Romanesque form.  It was started c. 1004 and finished c. 1012.  The cathedral was partially destroyed by a fire in 1081.  In the 13th Century the cathedral became what we know know today.
