Eme's Compendium

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." ~ Albert Schweitzer

                     Guten Tag und Willkommen!

In the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), I am Elisabeth Hänsler but I am in the process of becoming Emeludt Hänsler in the SCA, or Eme for short.

I am a member of the SCA, a historical reenactment group founded in 1966, that is dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th Century Europe.

My first actual experience in the SCA was in 1985 when I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and one of my "new" friends in my neighborhood was a part of the SCA.  His parents never hid their "cool stuff" from us and they even did a demo at our school - it was awesome and it never left my mind.  In 2005, I was was re-introduced to the SCA by a co-worker.  After several months I attended my first meeting with the Canton of Attillium.

I assisted with my first demo with the Canton at the 2005 Raeford Turkey Festival.  My first event was at the Celtic Cattle Raids in 2005.  The event was a very positive experience... and I had great fun with my Canton by helping out with the "Leaky Udder Tavern" that we sponsored/ran at the event for a Canton fundraiser.

I haven't looked back since.  Life has thrown me for some loops and I have not always been able to participate as much as I would have liked, but I always come back.  Both my children and I enjoy the friendship and all the wonderful activities that the SCA has enriched our lives with.

My primary interest has been 13th Century Germany.  Recently though, I have developed a keen interest of 15th Century Germany, but specifically, the second half of the 15th Century.
